The African Studies
Association will soon celebrate its 50th Anniversary. We are growing in
members and services, as never before. To fulfill our potential, we
must invest in the future. We have set $500,000 over the next four years as
our goal for a major fundraising campaign!

We now ask you to join us in
supporting the ASA in achieving its mission. As you may be aware, the ASA
was founded in 1957 as a non-profit organization open to all individuals
and institutions interested in African affairs. Its mission is to bring
together people with a scholarly and professional interest in Africa. It is now the largest organization that
promotes African studies by:
▪
Providing information and support to the Africanist
community
▪
Publishing three journals: African Issues, African Studies Review, and History in Africa
▪
Publishing a professional newsletter, ASA News
▪
Supporting programs for Young Scholars and the
International Visitors
▪
Sponsoring initiatives targeted to Technology
Development and African higher education
▪
Underwriting the African e-Journals Project
