David Coit traveled to Edmonton, Alberta on June 5 & 6, 2008 to participate as part of the PhD dissertation committee for Wei Li at the University of Alberta, and to present a seminar. Great Job Wei!! Congratulations!

David Coit attended the Industrial Engineering Research Conference (IERC) in Vancouver, Canada in May 2008. He was a member of the organizing committee and co-chair of the IERC Operations Research Track, and co-authored five papers in the conference proceedings (written by excellent former and current graduate students!)

The paper "Unbiased Variance Estimates for System Reliability Estimate Using Block Decompositions" (by Tongdan Jin & David Coit) had been accepted for publication in IEEE Transactions on Reliability.

The paper "Design Allocation of Multi-state Series-Parallel Systems for Power Systems Planning: A Multiple Objective Evolutionary Approach," (by Taboada, Espiritu & Coit) has been accepted in the Journal of Risk & Reliability. This is my 50th journal publication.

David Coit presented a 4-hour tutorial "Probabilistic Models and Statistical Methods in Reliability" at the 2008 Reliability and Maintainability Symposium (RAMS) on January 28, 2008 in Las Vegas, NV.

David Coit traveled to Thailand in November 2007. He presented seminars at King Mongkut's University of Technology Thonburi, Bangkok, on November 8, and at Chulalongkorn University, Bangkok on November 9. He also presented two papers at the International Conference on Quality & Reliability (ICQR 5), Chiang Mai.  Thanks Yui!
