Application Deadlines
and
The Application Process
Admission to the Ecology and Evolution Graduate
Program is a two step process:
- You must be approved for admission to the
program by the Admissions Committee
- You must have a professor in the program who is
willing to serve as your advisor.
Deadlines:
- Applications accepted for fall admission
only. The E&E grad program does not admit students in the spring
semester.
- Apply online. For students absolutely
unable to apply online paper applications are available by contacting
the Graduate Admissions office.
- To apply online or to contact the Graduate
Admissions office click the link for Graduate Admissions .
Complete applications must be
received by the following dates for consideration of admission to the
program..
January 1st.
- Deadline for all applicants, both Domestic
and International, who wish to be
considered for University Fellowships, teaching
assistantships or graduate assistantships.
February 1st
- Deadline for International applicants to be
considered for admission without university support.
April 1st.
- Deadline for Domestic applications to be
completed and considered for admission to the program without
university support
Complete Application:
- Application
- Personal statement
- Three letters of recommendation
- Transcripts from all other universities and
colleges attended
- GRE scores
- TOEFL scores, if applicable.
Any missing items renders the application incomplete. It
will not be reviewed by the admissions committee
The
Application Process
- Complete the online application
- Note the
RU ID number that your application is assigned.
- Use that ID number to
check the status of your application online throughout the process.
- Send all supporting
documents directly to the Graduate
Admissions office. Do not send items to the Ecology and Evolution
graduate program, this will cause a delay in processing and may result in your application
not being received in time for review by the E&E admissions committee.
The Admissions Committee
- Every application will be reviewed and ranked by members of an admissions
committee comprised of faculty in the Ecology and Evolution Graduate Program.
- Information on applicants found acceptable to the program is forwarded
to every faculty member in the Ecology and Evolution Graduate Program as
each application review is completed. This allows faculty who are searching
for students to review the acceptable applicant pool and contact applicants
whose interests may overlap with theirs.
- It is best to complete
your application early in the time line before other applicants are chosen
to fill open spaces in labs.
The Advisor Requirement
- An advisor is required for admission
to the program.
- Applicants, before submitting or upon submitting their application, should
seek faculty sponsorship in their individual areas of interest.
- It is not
necessary or expected for applicants to have an advisor in place to apply,
but it is necessary to have an advisor in place to be admitted.
- Your application will be reviewed with or without a commitment
from a professor to act as your advisor.
A promise of faculty sponsorship prior to
the applicants review and acceptance by the admissions committee does
not guarantee admission to the program.

interests can be found at http://www.rci.rutgers.edu/~deenr/grad/faculty.html.
