Project SUPER - "Science for Undergraduates:
A Program for the Excellence in Research"

Project SUPER is an enrichment program for undergraduate women interested in pursuing the sciences, technology, engineering and math fields.  Our program provides peer and faculty mentoring, an undergraduate credit-bearing course, Introduction to Scientific Research and undergraduate research experiences in the S.T.E.M. fields.

Project SUPER students have the opportunity to meet with mentors, attend professional development programs, develop their research skills and participate in paid research internships. Students in this program have support from staff and faculty dedicated to helping women succeed in the sciences. This flexible program allows for entry at any year and offers something different with each year of participation.

New for Fall 2008:
Associate Vice-President Joan W. Bennett with Professor Jim White and Douglass Project Director, Regina Riccioni have been awarded an NSF grant for Scholarships for female students in Science, Engineering and Math. Applications are available and being accepted now; please email dougprog@echo.rutgers.edu or download the document here in document form or as a pdf here. NSF scholarship funding will be decided on a rolling basis beginning March 7, 2008.

Introduction to Scientific Research: ISR is a course designed to prepare undergraduate women for laboratory research in various S.T.E.M. fields. This course is offered to first-year Project SUPER students to introduce them to research.  Students will have faculty guest lecturers and a chance to work closely with faculty mentors on research initiatives related to their particular academic disciplines.

S.T.E.M. Summer Science Research Experience Stipend: Project SUPER students have the opportunity to apply each year for a S.T.E.M. Research Experience Stipend. Eligible students who have secured a research position may apply for the stipend in mid-January. Stipends of up to $3000 are available. For eligibility, information or an application click here.
