The
easiest way to understand the judicial process is to begin examining
it
by the nature of the offense. The two primary categories of misconduct
are
separable and non-separable offenses:
Separable
offenses are those which are serious enough to potentially
merit suspension or expulsion from the University.
Non-separable
offenses are less serious and would merit a sanction
less than suspension or expulsion (e.g. warning or probation).
The judicial process for both types of offenses begins at the individual's
college or school of affiliation. Non-separable
offenses continue to be
dealt with at the college level;
separable offenses, unless an individual
admits responsibility, proceed to the university
level.
