RU Express is the student debit program on the Rutgers New Brunswick/Piscataway and Camden campuses. RU Express is a cash-free alternative that works like a debit card. RU Express is accepted at many on-campus and off-campus locations. Deposits may be added to a student’s RU Express account anytime throughout the semester.
Identification and Use. The RU Connection ID card and your RU Express Account are for your personal use only and are not transferable to anyone else. ID cards will be confiscated if presented by anyone other than the student it was originally issued to. A fee of $15.00 will be charged for the reactivation and return of confiscated ID cards, and the misuse will be reported to the Office of the Dean of Students.
Deposits. Students can add money to their RU Express account anytime throughout the semester via credit card (either MasterCard or Visa) online at RU Express Online, log in with your NetID and password, and select “Make a Deposit”. Payment will also be accepted at any University Cashier’s Office when paying with check or cash. A minimum deposit of $10.00 is required.
Two Week Change Period (for New Brunswick/Piscataway campuses ONLY). Your initial deposit made during the Fall semester will automatically be added to your account and the charge will appear on your Spring bill. Initial deposits for any semester may be reduced or cancelled during the two week change period as long as the new funds have not been used.
Closing Accounts. A cardholder may request a refund of remaining RU Express balances of $25.00 or more by completing an RU Express Refund Request Form. Written request forms must be submitted to the RU Express/Board Plan Office, Records Hall Rm 102, College Avenue Campus or to the Financial Services/Bursar’s Office, Artis Building, 329 Cooper Street, Camden Campus. Proof of withdrawal or dismissal is required. Only balances equal to $25.00 or more will be refunded. Student Accounting Services will determine if a student is entitled to a refund check based on their financial obligations to the University. Checks will be mailed to the permanent address as indicated on the student record. Please make sure your address is updated on the registrar's web site (http://registrar.rutgers.edu) Refunds will not be automatically issued at the end of the Spring semester.
