TWO CATS IN THE YARD

Two cats live at my house, and, on occasion, do go out in the yard, but only for supervised play. They are siblings and came from a good home; a friend did not quite get her cat spayed in time, thus, kittens. They were born April 14, 2005, and are very similar in appearance (black and white). It feels strange to have kittens again but we are all adjusting.

PREVIOUS VERSION Two cats live at my house, and, on occasion, do go out in the yard, but only for supervised play. Both came from animal shelters. I do not have their pictures here for two very different reasons. However, if you are ever at my office, I have photos there and will be happy to show them to you.

The older cat is a Missouri farm girl. The farmer wanted to keep the mother cat but not the kittens so off they went to the SPCA. While maintaining her solid Midwestern roots she did live in Richmond, Virginia, long enough to adopt a few Southern principles. One, from the turn of the century or older, is that a lady's name appears in print only twice -- her wedding and her death. Thus, Miss Kitty (her nom-de-cyberspace), prefers that her name (and appearance) remain private.*

Rudy, the younger cat, is not pictured for an entirely different reason. A rambunctious thug from the streets of Richmond, he has an ego big as all outdoors. Putting his big orange puss up for all the world to see would only make matters worse.

* Note: Sting the Cat died March 12, 2001, a few months shy of her 18th birthday, after some months of declining health. She was gray and when she sat in the sunlight her fur shone like pewter. Rudy died on April 11, 2005, suddenly, after developing a blood clot. At 12:30 he was fine, by 3:30 he was dead. He was 15.
