| This work (originally in poster-form) hung in Aki Beam’s kitchen for two years in Halifax, only to be deconstructed and used as border for the entrance to her Toronto apartment in 2001. For preservation purposes, it was bound into book form while Aki Beam resided in Orange, New Jersey. This important work represents the artist’s first formal foray into alphabet book construction. Many of the images are based on classic works of the Western art history canon. How many can you identify? |
