This book, also known as Abigail’s Apartment is a child-friendly alphabetical journey into the life of an urban dwelling. Here you will meet the tenants of ABC Columbine Ave. as Abigail watches and dreams about their lives.
This book is constructed from the punched-out remains of a Carcassonne board-game, which Aki Beam thought resembled tenement windows. The text and illustrations are glued to overhead transparencies which are in turn attached to the cardboard frame. Some of the windows are left clear so that the reader can see through to the illustration on the next page. In the digital edition, this effect reproduced as a slightly blurrier image preceding the actual page image. (see for example frames 3, 5, and 9 of the cover page). |
