Election Results Update (as of 11/28/06)
• In Florida's 13th district, Christine Jennings (D) lost to Vern Buchanan (R) (but legal action is pending.)
• In Ohio's 15th district, Representative Deborah Pryce (R) has been re-elected.
Thus, the total number of women serving in the House as of January 2007 will be 71:
• 61 (42D, 19R) re-elected incumbents
• 10 (8D, 2R) newly elected women
The total could rise by one more newly elected Democrat if Carter wins. In addition, three non-voting Democratic women delegates were re-elected from Guam, the U.S. Virgin Islands, and Washington, DC.
