The Rutgers Center for Family Involvement in Schools is pleased to offer another addition to the successful Family Math program, Family Math II . EQUALS at the Lawrence Hall of Science at the University of California, Berkeley has just released the Family Math II book. This book contains all new activities appropriate for grades K-6. This class is open only to previously trained Family Math presenters. This workshop offers an opportunity to those presenters who wish to update their sessions with new and exciting activities or for those who want to participate in a follow-up training. Each day of training will include 3-5 new activities from the Family Math II book. Participants may register for one or two days of training; a discounted rate will be applied if signing up for both days. Call for more details about the focus for each day.

All Family Math activities reinforce the NCTM Standards and the New Jersey Core Curriculum Content Standards in mathematics. The content of FAMILY MATH classes are based on the school mathematics curriculum and represent all content areas:

  • Arithmetic, numbers and operations
  • Geometry
  • Measurement
  • Probability and statistics
  • Calculators and computers
  • Patterns, relations and functions
  • Logical thinking

Goals

To build confidence and competence in mathematics by:
