Computers as Physical Devices and Computation

If you can describe the physical laws that govern the operation of each physical device that makes up a computer, then do you understand the computation that is being carried out on the computer?

If you can describe the linkage of each physical device that makes up a computer and the physical laws that govern the flow of energy through the linked devices, then do you understand the computation that is being carried out on the computer?

If you can have a complete temporal record of the changes in the distribution of energy in the physical devices that make up a computer and know the physical laws that govern the changes in the distribution of energy in these devices, then do you understand the computation that is being carried out on the computer?
