As a (perhaps related) aside....think about a thermostat that senses the temperature and causes the heat to go on if the temperature drops below its setting.......You would probably not want to say that the thermostat is thinking. Or think of playing chess against a computer...do you want to say that the computer is thinking?? Or think of Andre Agassi trying to return a 128 mph serve hit by Goran Ivanisevic...do you want to say that Andre is thinking? Or think of yourself driving down the Turnpike at 80 mph and swerving to avoid something lying in the roadway in front of you....were you thinking? |
