BME senior Ronn Friedlander has received funding from the Aresty Research Center for Undergraduates. This award will support Ronn's travel to the upcoming BMES Conference, where his abstract was accepted for presentation.

Sumati Sundaram defended her dissertation today, entitled "Interplay of Polymer and Oligonucleotide Properties in the Nature of Antisense Effects". Sumati is the first Ph.D. to graduate from the group. Congratulations, Sumati!

Welcome to the newest member of our group! Dr. Vidya Iyer joins us as a postodoctoral associate. Vidya recently finished her Ph.D. in Chemical Engineering from Iowa State and will be co-advised by Marianthi Ierapetritou.

Congratulations to our seniors, Mark Hwang and Clare Tang, who graduated with BS degrees in Biomedical Engineering, and to Jeffrey Ly, who graduated with an MS in Biomedical Engineering today. Clare is doing an industrial intership this summer and will return to Rutgers in Fall as part of her BS/MS program, Mark will be starting the MD/PhD program at U. of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign and Jeffrey will begin work at Merck. Best wishes in your future endeavors!

Our research group continues to grow! Juan Lagos has joined us as a part-time Ph.D. student in the Department of Chemical and Biochemical Engineering. When he's not with us, Juan holds down a full-time job at Schering-Plough.
