[an error occurred while processing this directive] Career Opportunities for Majors in Medieval Studies

Introduction

The Medieval Studies program is an interdisciplinary enterprise that offers an undergraduate major, an undergraduate minor, and a certificate program for graduate students. Course offerings and faculty interests range from the last centuries of the Roman world to the heyday of Renaissance Italy, from Byzantium to Iceland, and from the deciphering of Latin inscriptions to the analysis of Chaucer and Dante. Because of its interdisciplinary nature, students involved in the program have the opportunity to take courses and work with faculty in many departments, including Art History, Classics, English, History, Religion, Philosophy and several of the romance and Germanic language departments. The Program in Medieval Studies also lends itself to various Study Abroad programs, which allow students to visit and experience firsthand some of the castles, cathedrals, and other sites explored in course offerings.

Medieval Studies as a major is versatile and helps develop skills useful anywhere. Your major is only one of many variables to be considered when developing your career plans. Many careers do not require a specific major, but rather a wide range of demonstrated skills and accomplishments. Regardless of your career choices, increase your marketability to employers through internships, responsible work experience, good grades and involvement in college activities.
