Center for Women and Work’s Workforce Development Programs focus on research, programs, and policies that advance low-skill and low-income workers through education and training opportunities in New Jersey and nationally.

Sloan Center on Innovative Training and Workforce Development. The Sloan Center on Innovative Training and Workforce Development (ITWD), housed at Rutgers University, is dedicated to assisting State, County, and City Government Departments and Workforce Investment Boards institutionalize technologically-based flexible education and training alternatives, especially online learning opportunities,  for non-college educated workers throughout the nation.

Computer Based Learning from Prison to Community: The Center for Women and Work is a partner in the Nicholson Foundation funded project “Computer Based Learning from Prison to Community: A Criminal Justice Technology Enhanced Workforce Development Project.”  CWW is serving in an advisory role, and also conducting a process evaluation of the demonstration project. 

Workplace Literacy:  Building on the work of CWW’s Sloan Center for Innovative Technology and Workforce Development we are working to develop web applications on the Internet that can teach literacy and work readiness skills. Our goal is a web application for out-of-school adults with a 7th grade reading level.
