Directions to the Rutgers GSAPP Psychological Clinic, 152 Frelinghuysen Road, Busch Campus (Subject to change during construction of new highway ramps) Be sure to follow signs for Busch Campus if directions seem different

From Route 18:

¨        Follow signs for Route 18 North/Busch Campus as you cross the Raritan River on the John Lynch Bridge. 

¨        After you cross the bridge, get into the right lane, and take the exit for Busch Campus.

¨        When you arrive at the traffic circle, take the second right off the circle, which will bring you onto Frelinghuysen Road.  Sports fields, bleachers, and the golf course will be on your left. Continue straight for a short distance until you get to Allison Road.

¨        For parking, turn right onto Allison Road.  You will see the Psychology Building with a “telephone-like” sculpture in front of you, as you make the turn.

¨        Drive to the stop sign, and turn right onto Bevier Road.  You will see a large parking lot to your left.  Turn left at the second block onto Taylor Road.  Lot 54 is the first driveway on the left.  Place your parking pass on your driver’s side dashboard.

¨        Walk back to Allison Road, and walk under the skybridge at the Center for Alcohol Studies, continuing along Allison Road.

¨        You will see a bus stop on your left and also one on your right, directly in front of the Allison Road Classroom (ARC).  Pass the ARC, and turn right down the sidewalk.  The Psychology Building is on your left with a long ramp and a small sculpture in front of it.

¨        Walk up the ramp, and enter the building.  Walk straight down the short hallway until it ends.  Turn left and enter the Psychological Clinic.

From the NJ Turnpike:

¨        Take Exit 9 onto Route 18 North.

¨        Follow Route 18N through New Brunswick and over the Raritan River.

¨        Follow directions from Route 18 above.

From Route 1:

¨        Exit at New Brunswick onto Route 18 North.   Follow directions from Route 18 above.

From Route 287 South & North

¨        Go to Exit 9 (River Road, in Piscataway) towards Highland Park.

¨        Follow River Road and signs to Rutgers Stadium.

¨        Turn LEFT at traffic light onto Hoes Lane West. (Note that the sign for the right turn is “Johnson Drive.”)

¨        Bear right onto Frelinghuysen Road at the fork in the road after passing the golf cart area.

¨        Make the next left onto Allison Road (which is immediately after the Psychology Building), and then follow directions above.

From Route 22, traveling West:

¨        Take the Washington Avenue exit in North Plainfield, which is a jug-handle that crosses over Route 22.

¨        Continue on Washington Avenue until you go under a railroad overpass.

¨        Make the next right onto New Market Road.

¨        Continue on New Market Road, crossing over the railroad tracks, turning right at the next light onto Stelton Road.

¨        At the next light, turn right onto Old New Brunswick Road, which becomes Hoes Lane. Continue for 3 miles through many traffic lights until just after the cemetery.

¨        Turn right onto (Old) Hoes Lane West.   Continue past the UMDNJ Medical School.

¨        At the next intersection, past UMDNJ buildings, you will see a building with a steeple.  Make a sharp left onto Frelinghuysen Road before the golf course.

¨        Make the next left onto Allison Road (which is immediately after the Psychology Building), and follow directions above.

Parking Instructions

Community Clients:

¨        To avoid ticketing, please arrive at least 20 minutes early for your first appointment so that you can obtain a University parking permit from our Clinic Office Manager (unless one was mailed to you in advance).  To get a parking pass, pull into the driveway for Lot 49, put on your flashers, and walk around the ivy-covered concrete wall.  Walk up the stairs and through the double doors, and immediately turn right to enter the Psychological Clinic.

¨        Once you have a parking pass, please park in Lot 54, located on Bevier Road, between Titsworth and Taylor Roads.  See Route 18 directions for more details.

¨        If you have an appointment after 4:30 pm, and are not a Rutgers student, you may request a pass to park in Lot 49, adjacent to the Psychology Building.

Faculty and Staff Clients:

¨        Your faculty/staff parking badge allows you to park in Lot 55, but only if you have a valid hangtag and a keycard to the gated lot adjacent to the Library of Science and Medicine.  Otherwise, you may park in the ungated parking lot for the Library of Medicine and Science.

Rutgers-Student Clients:

¨        If you have a student parking hangtag from the University, please park at the Rutgers Football Stadium and/or use the campus bus system.  You will receive a ticket if you attempt to park elsewhere.  You may not park in Lot 49 or Lot 54.

¨        If you have access to the Internet, you can go to a website called Mapquest at www.mapquest.com.

¨        When you reach the Mapquest page, click on the heading for "Driving Directions."

¨        Next, simply enter the address from which you are coming, along with the address of the clinic (152 Frelinghuysen Road, Piscataway NJ 08854), and Mapquest will produce a map and/or written directions on how to get to us!

¨        If you have any problems, you can click on "help" and follow the directions provided by Mapquest.

¨        And remember, you can also call The Psychological Clinic at (732) 445-6111 X 25 for help with directions and parking.

For access to Busch Campus from Metlars Lane.  (easy way to the parking lot from Rt. 287)

From Route 287 North or South take Exit 5 – Take Stelton Road- South passing the Middlesex Mall and Hadley Center.  Just after Friendly’s restaurant, turn right at the next light which is the beginning of Metlars Lane. At the next light turn left and that will keep you on Metlars Lane.  You are now traveling toward New Brunswick and Rutgers campuses.  A short way down just pass the large brick building (dorms) you will come to Taylor Road.   Go down to the next traffic light, which is, a large intersection and the beginning of Rutgers University, stay in the center lane.  Turn right and follow signs for Busch Campus, stay to the left. Stay straight going through the traffic light and it will bring you directly onto Davidson Road.  .  A short way down just pass the large brick building (dorms) you will come to Taylor Road.

Take Route 287 North to Exit 6.  Turn right at the stop sign (Washington Ave).  Continue straight eventually passing a farm on the left and Charlie Brown’s on the right.  The road turns into  Metlars Lane.   You are traveling toward New Brunswick and Rutgers campuses.  Follow the road down and at the second light , at the fork, bear to the right.  Go down to the next traffic light, which is, a large intersection and the beginning of Rutgers University, stay in the center lane.  Turn right and follow signs for Busch Campus, staying to the left. Stay straight going through the traffic light and it will bring you directly onto Davidson Road.  A short way down just pass the large brick building (dorms) you will come to Taylor Road.

Parking with a Pass

Turn left onto Taylor Road, Lot 54 is the last driveway on the right.  Pull in to the lot.  You will now need to walk to the Psychology Bldg following the walking map on the back of written directions.

Be sure you have a parking pass before parking in order to avoid walking the distance twice.  You can get a parking pass from the Clinic Office Manager or from your therapist.
