About the Stipend:
The Douglass College Summer Science Research Program provides stipends of $1500 each for students doing summer research projects. Sponsoring laboratories or individual researchers are asked to contribute a minimum of $500 to supplement the award from Douglass College.

Who can apply?
Any Douglass College Student wanting to do summer research in math, science, or engineering.

How do I apply?
Complete the application form and return it to the Douglass Project by Monday, April 24, 2000.

When will I know if I have been awarded a stipend?
All applicants will be notified of their status by Monday, May 15, 2000.

What are my obligations as a stipend awardee?
Submit a short report (3-5) pages by August 18, 2000 Participate in the fall Douglass Project Poster Session Attend a summer dinner program to prepare for the Poster Session. Plan to work a minimum of 25 hours per week for 8 weeks or 20 hours per week for 10 weeks.

Make sure your completed application includes:
The application form
A brief statement (250 words) describing the proposed research project
A transcript
A letter from your faculty sponsor to include:

  1. A description of your role in the lab and/or project
  2. The amount of matching funds
  3. The number of weeks and hours per week you will be working
  4. How your project fits into the larger context of his/her research
  5. An evaluation of your academic performance
