Yassine Fall
Senior Economic Advisor, UNIFEM

Yassine Fall is a feminist economist from Senegal and presently senior economic advisor for the United Nations Development Fund for Women (UNIFEM), following her position as UNIFEM regional programme director in West and Central Africa. Her area of work includes macroeconomic policy and international trade, poverty policy analysis, emergency relief operations assessment, urban planning, natural resources management and land tenure issues.

She held the position of executive secretary of the Association of African Women for Research and Development (AAWORD), for five years before coming to UNIFEM. She played an important role in facilitating policy dialogues between African Governments and women constituencies both within the continent and during major international conferences. She coordinated a number of campaigns for African women’s enjoyment of their economic rights.

She is a founding member of several women’s networks including the Gender and Economic Reforms in Africa, the International Gender and Trade Network, the Network of African Women Economists, and the WEGO network. She is the author of several research and publications in French and English including field studies, scientific journal pieces and books.
