This is probably the most widespread and diverse genera of carnivorous plants.  These highly evolved plants have modified leaves which act as vacuum traps in water, wet or very moist soils.  These traps can capture prey within 1/500th of a second.  While the trapping mechanism is truly an astounding biological feat; most folks cultivate these plants for their beautiful flowers, some of which are very similar to those of Orchids.
