Edwards is commissioner and the chairman of the NJ State Commission on Investigation. He is “of counsel” to the firm of Waters, McPherson, McNeill PC where he focuses on all levels of governmental matters, complex civil and criminal litigation matters, appellate cases, environmental law, land use and development. He served as Chief Legal Counsel to Governor Thomas H. Kean, as the New Jersey attorney general, as a member of the state legislature and legislative leader, and as a council member and council president in Oakland, NJ. Edwards also ran for governor in the 1989 and 1993 Republican primaries. He is a life member of the board of trustees at Monmouth University, lead director of the board of directors of South Jersey Industries (NYSE:SJI), chairman of the board of South Jersey Sanitation, a member of the board of New Jersey Future, and half a dozen other community and volunteer organizations. Edwards is the recipient of five Honorary Doctor of Law degrees and over 150 public service awards. He was a scholarship graduate of Seton Hall University’s School of Business, and earned his JD from its law school.
