ROBERT A. ORTIZ, Jr.

Robert A. Ortiz, Jr., born in Corpus Christi, Texas, is Counsel to the law firm of Porzio, Bromberg & Newman P.C. in Morristown. Mr. Ortiz works with the corporate and governmental affairs teams of the 85-lawyer firm and also serves as Vice President of its wholly owned subsidiary, Porzio Governmental Affairs. Mr. Ortiz’s law practice is concentrated principally in the corporate area, including mergers, acquisitions, divestitures, partnership formations and business start-ups. He has also been involved in representing companies and organizations of all sizes in governmental affairs.

The New Jersey Law Journal recently selected Mr. Ortiz to its 2008 list of “40 under 40”. According to the Law Journal's publisher, the 40 lawyers on the list are people under the age of 40 who are "worth watching not only for what they have achieved so far in their careers but more so for the potential they show to be among the leaders of the New Jersey bar in the next decade." He is the current Finance Chairman of the New Jersey Republican State Committee and former Chairman of the Bergen County Republican Organization. Mr. Ortiz is a former member of the Board of Trustees of the Hackensack University Medical Center Foundation and a current member of the Board of Trustees of the Boy Scouts of America, Northern New Jersey Council.

Mr. Ortiz is also a member of the National Hispanic Advisory Committee to the Republican National Committee. He served as Corporate Counsel for the Commerce and Industry Association of New Jersey from 2004 to 2006. Mr. Ortiz was appointed to the Board of Directors of the Jacob K. Javits Fellowship Program by the Secretary of the U.S. Department of Education. The program provides financial assistance to post-graduate students who have demonstrated superior academic ability and financial need and are pursuing a doctoral or master’s degree in the arts, humanities or social sciences.

Mr. Ortiz is a member of the Bergen County Bar Association, Hispanic National Bar Association and the New Jersey Hispanic Bar Association. Mr. Ortiz received his J.D. from Villanova University School of Law and a B.A. from the University of Notre Dame.
