New Jacob's Chair of Applied Physics Appointed

The Board of Trustees of Rutgers University, recognizing his internationally acclaimed achievements in the broader area of ferroelectric and piezoelectric materials and transducers, has named Professor Safari the Jacob's Chair of Applied Physics for a period of three years.

R&D Excellence Award

$2,460,000 have been awarded for a period of five years ($500,000 in first-year support) for a program entitled "Nanotechnology for Photonic Materials and Devices." Professor Ahmad Safari, of Rutgers University will be the Principal Investigator. Professor Safari will work with researchers at Rutgers, NJIT, Princeton, and several New Jersey materials companies. The program will concentrate on the materials technology aspects of photonics, utilizing a range of technologies inlcuding vapor, plasma, and molecular processing methods, and layered manufacturing, to synthesize nanopowders, modify materials properties, enhance performance, and develop components for photonic applications.
