Commission on Science and Technology
R&D
Excellence Award
$2,460,000
have been awarded for a period of five years ($500,000 in first-year
support) for a program entitled "Nanotechnology for Photonic
Materials and Devices." Professor Ahmad Safari, of Rutgers
University will be the Principal Investigator. Professor Safari
will work with researchers at Rutgers, NJIT, Princeton, and several
New Jersey materials companies. The program will concentrate on
the materials technology aspects of photonics, utilizing a range
of technologies inlcuding vapor, plasma, and molecular processing
methods, and layered manufacturing, to synthesize nanopowders, modify
materials properties, enhance performance, and develop components
for photonic applications.
