Skin in Flames offers a poignant commentary on the devastating effects of war and the iconic power of an image. The play takes us on an emotional and intellectual journey through the unexpected encounter of a photojournalist and the young girl captured in his haunting photograph twenty years earlier. Guillem Clua penetrates the headlines to explore the real life drama and personal tragedies.
World premiere: Dir. Carme Portaceli. Villarroel Theatre, Barcelona, 2005. The work has received multiple performances in various locations in Spain. Skin in Flames made its US debut in Theatre at St. John's in St. Louis, Missouri in 2006, under the direction of Jason Cannon. 2007 marked the East coast premiere of Skin in Flames, directed by Seth Rozin, at the InterAct Theatre in Philadelphia.
