bullet Design with Uncertainty - The presence of uncertainty in the analysis and design has been well recognized in the engineering community. Our focus in this area is on the applications to structural design and its computational efficiency.
bullet Structural Optimization - Starting from topology optimization, we are extending our research efforts to nonlinear structural design, compliant mechanism design, conventional mechanism design and multi-scale/multi-material design.
bullet Image-Based Analysis and Design - Unlike traditional CAD, image-based analysis and design combines analysis and design into one single tool - analytical design. Our research focus is on image representation, image-based analysis as well as its sensitivity analysis.
