WHY SHOULD I READ THE BIBLE?Politics, terrorism, suicide, wars, disasters, homelessness, pollution, AIDS, economic collapse. This steady stream of global catastrophes fosters fear and undermines security. Mix in those gnawing internal struggles involving interpersonal conflicts, feelings of failure and guilt, and the constant search for meaning and worth, and there is a real recipe for despair with desperate questions filling our minds and hearts: Is there any hope? What’s life all about? Where can I turn? But suppose God Spoke. What would he say to answer these questions and our needs? If God spoke, it would be a clear message. God would speak in words, expressions, and ideas that we could understand and appreciate, regardless of our age, environment, or education. If God spoke, it would be a timely message. And it would be in time. God would communicate in such a way that the words would speak to us and to each generation with power as if they were brand-new. The Creator would know how to talk to his creation. If God spoke, it would be a universal message, crossing cultural and personal barriers and applying to all of humankind. If God spoke, it would be a personal message, speaking to individuals about their personal needs. God has spoken. In the Bible. It’s God’s Word.WELL KNOWN PEOPLE’S EXPERIENCE WITH THE BIBLE:Immanuael Kant:The Bible is the greatest benefit which the human race has ever experienced.
