2010
Karl Maramorosch, emeritus professor of entomology, delivered the keynote
address to the 19th
National Virology Conference hosted by the Sri Venkateswara University in honor
of the silver jubilee of the Indian Virology Society. Maramorosch was awarded
the "Professor M.V. Nayudu Lifetime Achievement Award" in memory of the founder
and former head of the Department of Virology, Sri Venkateswara University.
Maramorosch was recognized as an "eminent American virologist, entomologist, and
plant pathologist, and a world renowned plant virologist…who has served and
moved through centuries in the field of plant virology, with distinction and
dedication, for the last 63 years." The conference, which focused on the
emerging and re-emerging viral diseases and the problems relating to their
diagnosis and management, was held on March 18 at the Sri Venkateswara
University, Tirupati, India. (from the

Ary Farajollahi won the Compton Markle Award on mosquito biology.
2007
Jessica Ware won the Compton Markle Award on dragonfly systematics.
Anne Nielsen won the Wilber Runk Award.
2006
Ruth A. Caceres won the John B. Schmitt Award. This award is given to the outstanding undergraduate student in entomology. The Schmitt Award is based on scholarship, character, leadership potential and courses taken in the Entomology Department.
Professor Karl Maramorosch received the L. O. Howard Award from the Eastern Branch of the Entomological Society of America.
Anne Nielsen won the Compton Markle Award on brown marmorated stink bug research.
Randy Gaugler has been named an Albert Einstein Visiting Professor by the Chinese Academy of Sciences (CAS). Dr. Gaugler was also awarded a Research Fulbright fellowship that will take him to Egypt.
