This was a good try. The pedicel is the second segment of the antennae (also visible in the picture). In
some insects, muscles insert in the pedicel from the first segment. These muscles aid in the movement of
the flagellum. Located on the pedicel is the Johnston's organ which perceives movements of the
flagellum. This sense organ is found in all insects except Collembola and Diplura (Chapman 1982)
