The Colorado potato beetle (Leptinotarsus decemlineata) feed on Solinaceaous
plants (potatoes, tomatoes) to obtain lecithin. For potato beetles, lecithin is used
to:
- make a poison for protection against
predators.
- maintain their
exoskeleton.
- make more Colorado potato
beetles.
- get energy for
migration.
