Abstract: My research program focuses on developing new and improved urban pest management technologies through the study of biology, behavior, and ecology of urban pests. The goal is to identify cost-effective and environmentally friendly solutions that will immediately benefit the consumers. My extension program delivers research-based urban pest management technologies to pest management professionals and the public through presentations, field demonstrations, and extension publications.

Research Interest and Expertise: Insect behavior, Insecticide resistance, Urban pest management (ants, termites, cockroaches, bed bugs, etc), Ant systematics.

Research Projects:

Development and implementation of new reduced-risk insect management strategies for urban pests (cockroaches, bed bugs, ants, termites)

Insecticide resistance management in the German cockroach and bed bugs

Use of attractants and repellents for pest monitoring and control

Urban ant community structure in relation to disturbance and pesticide applications
