GENERAL INFORMATION:
The Department of Italian is conducting its thirty-sixth summer program
in Italy in the beautiful city of Urbino to provide students at various
levels with an opportunity to study Italian in its natural environment.
In association with the Department of Art History at Rutgers University
the program also offers two courses for students of art history who can
take advantage of the immense resources in this field at Urbino and
other Italian cities. Urbino provides an ideal location for summer
study given its climate, its proximity to the major centers of Italian
culture, its University, and the superb setting of a Renaissance city.
Beaches on the Adriatic are within easy access. The Summer 2008 Session
will be under the direction of a Professor of Italian at Rutgers.
ADMISSION:
Participants must be undergraduates at Rutgers or other colleges, or
high school seniors who will enter college for the 2008-2009 academic
year, whether at Rutgers or elsewhere, and who will be eighteen years
of age at the time of the group’s departure. Teachers and
other
qualified applicants may also be admitted on a space available basis.
No previous knowledge of Italian is required since the program offers
language courses at the elementary, intermediate, and advanced level,
and the Art History course is conducted in English. Applications will
be considered as soon as they are complete, and the applicant will be
notified of the decision promptly. Applications received after April 1
will be processed on a space available basis.
