Office for the Promotion of Women in Science, Engineering and Mathematics
Established in 2007, the mission of the Office for the Promotion of Women in Science, Engineering and Mathematics (WiSEM) is to improve the stature of women at all levels within Rutgers University through networking events, career development workshops and initiatives for increased visibility and collaborations. WiSEM also conducts the Rutgers University Faculty Advancement and Institutional Reimagination initiative (RU-FAIR), of a five-year program funded by a National Science Foundation ADVANCE grant. Elements of RU FAIR include:
· Recruitment and retention initiatives
· Communication Initiatives
· Networking and Liaisons with Women's Programs Initiatives
· Visibility Initiatives
· Family Initiatives
They are designed to increase the recruitment and retention of women in academic science, engineering and mathematics careers by changing Rutgers institutional culture and practices.
