This is a photo of my father with Alex Intrator, his father, and Jakob Intrator, his grandfather.

My father and his parents and all his grandparents lived in Charlottenberg. My father and his parents and my grandmother's parents lived on the Fasananenstrasse, across from my great-grandfather's synagogue. My grandfather's parents, Jakob and Rosa Intrator, lived in a beautiful apartment on 185 Kurfurstendamm, on the corner of Kurfurstendamm and Wielandstrasse. Some of my father's earliest recollections are watching Nazi parades down Kurfurstendamm from their balcony.

My grandparents were separated by the war. By the time my father saw his father again, both his parents had remarried. My father changed his name from "Manfred Intrator" to "Manfred Stanley" at the age of 30.
