Using indexes and databases, find two reviews of books relating to a possible topic for your final feature story.
The reviews need to be a page or longer.
For each review, briefly supply or sum up the following (typical) information:
A typical book-review structure
- Title and reviewer’s byline
- Book information (name of author, title and sub-title, publisher, year of publication, number of pages, number of illustrations, cost).
- Opening paragraph: what makes it exciting.
- Background on author (who he/she is, some biography, professional history, previous books, etc., interesting details)
- Brief introduction to the book
- Summary and critical discussion:
- Might begin withs some background, context.
- Main point of (scientific) interest.
- 1-3 other points of (scientific) interest.
- Discussion of style, usability, other “side” issues.
- Problems with book (negative criticism)
- Final paragraph: review in miniature.
