Formatting Work submitted should follow the specified style and format guidelines.
Attendance Attendance at all classes is expected. Students missing more than three classes fail the course – without exception. Regular latenesses will count as half-absences (retroactively).
Late work Homework is due at the start of class unless otherwise noted. Printed work must be printed before the start of class. Late graded assignments are graded down. Other late work deducts value from the homework and participation portions of your grade. Students falling behind by more than two of the main assignments will fail the course – again, without exception.
Submitting written work by email (do not!) Unless specifically requested, written work will not be accepted by email or via the class forum. Fortunately, it will be requested of most of the work for the course that it be submitted via the class forum.
Class participation Class participation entails attendance and active involvement in discussions, individual and group exercises, and other class activities. If you miss three classes you'll fail this part of the course and be unlikely to get higher than a "B" grade overall.
Online work Publically accessible electronic copies of the design assignments and their accompanying design scripts must be stored on Eden from the time the work is due until at least one month after the end of the semester.
Sample work Often the instructor will share examples of students’ work in class. Names will be deleted where possible. If you object to my using your work, let me know (verbally or by email).
Email The instructor’s email is for asking questions about the course work. Please do not use his email to share your reasons for missing class or work or to ask for his permission to do so. If you need to discuss attendance or the lateness or absence of written work, do so in class or during office hours.
Online Schedule Students are responsible for regularly checking the online schedule for important changes. The schedule is mostly updated on a weekly basis.
Plagiarism Students must review and abide by the University's code on plagiarism as well as the special code replication and copyright concerns related to publishing work online. We will discuss this in class. If you miss the class the week we discuss copyright and plagiarism, you’ll need to meet with me to go over these points. Otherwise there is a good chance that you might fail on just these grounds.
Research Wikipedia, About.com, and similar reference sites are not acceptable sources for research. You may use these sites to find other online material but should not quote from or otherwise draw on them in presenting and supporting your work. Your doing so will result in a grade reduction of one letter grade.
