Policy on Grading
-
All grades
are earned, not just given out because of need. It is useless to
try to change your grade by telling me how much you want or need a higher
grade. If you need a higher grade, then earn it.
-
As stated
in the syllabus and announced the first day of class, the only way to earn
points toward your final grade is through performance on exams. There are
no extra credit assignments.
-
I do several
things to help students improve their grades:
1.
Drop the lowest exam score.
2.
Adjust the final grade/point distribution.
3.
Review exams with students and suggest ways they can improve their study
skills.
-
This is
all I can do – the rest is up to you. If you are not happy with your grade,
do not ask me to change it. I will NOT change grades unless there is evidence
of errors in scoring. You will be wasting your time and my time if you
choose to ignore this policy.
