Most Common Mistakes on the Content Analysis Paper

Mistakes solvable by looking at your paper:
     Paras 1 full page long
     Using first names in citations
     Appendices, not tables for computations.
     Length

Stat/analysis mistakes
     Putting expected values in tables
     Compared your # of Blacks in ads to W&V's # of ads with Blacks
     Misunderstanding of nonsignificant results: "inconclusive" or interpreting diffs
     that were ns.
     not interpreting/explaining the results
     Over-explaining the p-level.  If significant: "This means the result would occur
     less than 5 in a 100 times by chance."  If ns, "This means that there is about a
     30 in 100 chance of the result occurring by chance."

Conceptual errors
     Referring to the study as an "Experiment"
     Not stating your hypotheses
     Not justifying hypos
     "proving"
     "Seeking to prove or find something"
     Grossly overstating conclusions.
     Overstated or unjustified claims in general.  If it is not a fact (in the scientific
     sense), do not present it as a fact.

Writing Errors
    Non-sentences
    Typos
    run-ons
    Not referencing citations

Organizational Errors
    Not summarizing your results at the beginning of the discussion
    Tables out of order
