How much does it cost? The cost for the six-week session is: New Jersey Residents $5,000*Inflation and fluctuating exchange rates make it impossible to state a fixed cost this far in advance. Airfare is not included in the cost of the program. All subsequent transportation is covered, however. What do I have to bring? How many credits is this worth? 9 undergraduate units, although some schools may only accept 6 transfer units. How is grading done? Based on the field work, written exams, lab work and participation, grades will be assigned according to the Rutgers system. This course meets, in full, the standards maintained at Rutgers University. Do I need shots? Once again, we will send out an information packet upon your acceptance explaining the possible need for shots, but in the mean time, you could check out the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) online and, depending on your country of origin, it can provide you with advice. Are there any prerequisites? No. All undergraduate and graduate students may apply, regardless of their study of interest. Students will be accepted on the basis of their academic records. Will I find any hominid bones? People are still finding important early hominid bones and stone tools. (See the Famous Finds section of Koobi Fora for more information.) What are some of the field methods employed at the field school?
Yes. Follow this link and carefully read the instructions. Be advised that though it says you will need only one letter of recommendation for all summer programs, the Koobi Fora Field School will require two letters of recommendation. Do I need additional insurance? The field school offers limited insurance for no extra charge and additional insurance for $15 US. More information will be included in the information packet once you are accepted. Is financial aid available? Financial aid is not available through the program. However, we recommend that you check with your own schools (for undergraduate studies and/or research) or departments for funding, as this has been successful in the past. © Rutgers University 2003 Rutgers University reserves the right to make any changes in this program that may become necessary.
