Gnocchi and Dolly

Gnocchi
                              and Dolly

Gnocchi (left) and Dolly (right) were both rescued from a litter of kittens born to a stray mom cat in our neighborhood. Gnocchi, an  extremely playful and friendly little guy, quickly won us over and became a member of our family. We were trying to socialize Dolly and put her up for adoption, but these two love being together and we just couldn't bring ourselves to separate them.  They love to wrestle and groom each other, and enjoy the company of our dog Mikey and their big sister Sophie, who is like a second "mama" to them.  Our first cat, Charlotte, is still a little jealous of them, but is slowly starting to accept them as members of the family. Gnocchi and Dolly's sister Starr, who we also rescued, was adopted through Stray Catz, a rescue group in Mercer County (NJ) where many other wonderful cats are available for adoption.

logo by Henry CharlesI am very proud to be involved with a new organization at Rutgers, the Scarlet Paws Animal Welfare Network. I am currently the secretary and webmaster for Scarlet Paws.  Founded on the belief that all living creatures should be valued and treated with dignity and respect, the Scarlet Paws Animal Welfare Network has a long-term commitment to the health, welfare, and well-being of animals on the New Brunswick campuses at Rutgers, the State University of New Jersey.  Following the example of animal welfare groups organized at other colleges and universities (for example, Stanford, Texas A&M, Towson, and Utah State University), the Scarlet Paws Animal Welfare Network endeavors to promote community awareness of the responsible care and treatment of animals.
