To whom it may concern:
I am bothered by the
things that I am hearing about gay and lesbian rights. I heard Rev. Jerry
Falwell on Good Morning America this morning. I think that the state of
Vermont is doing a great thing and I can only hope that the rest of the
United States would follow in their footsteps. I am married and have two
children but I believe that gays and lesbians are no different than the
rest of us and deserve to be treated with the same respect that we demand
for ourselves. I do not attend church on a regular basis but I do believe
in God. I believe that the true meaning of Christianity is to love thy
neighbor and to help our brothers and sisters in their time
of need. Putting people down and criticizing their way of life is
Christianity. Jerry Falwell does not have the right to carry the title
of Reverend. If he were a Christian then he would know that we should love
everyone and help them through all the crisis in their lives. A true Christian
would also know that God created Adam and Eve and that we are all brother
and sisters in one way or another. We all bleed red and we will all get
the same wings when we go to meet our maker. In God’s eyes we’re all the
same…..red, yellow, black or white, gay, lesbian, handicapped, rich or
This is the same fight
that the African Americans fought so many years ago because of the color
of their skin. American, white, straight people with educations think that
they are so much better than everyone else and that is not true…..our thoughts
and feelings make us worse. Young children are the pictures of how adults
should be, to see everyone the same and be naïve about their flaws.
Hats off to Rev. Gregory
Dell of Illinois. He is a true Christian!!! Suspended for disobedience?
What is that? Disobedient to whom? He disobeyed man’s rules
of Christianity….not God’s. As far as the antichrist being alive
and being a male Jew…that is ridiculous!!! The closest thing that
I see to the antichrist is JERRY FALWELL!!!
I feed the neighbor kids
and I give clothes and food to the needy. I teach my children to love everyone
and not to make fun of the child that gets sent home for head lice.
I answer their questions about why some one is in a wheelchair and they
have African American friends. I know a gay male that I think is
a loving person and helps people everyday because he is a nurse.
You, Jerry Falwell, probably have encounters with a gay or lesbian everyday
and do not know it….one may even save your life someday!
Hope you find your way,
