Subject: Christ Ridgewood Resolution Concerning Lambeth

At its vestry meeting last night, the rector, wardens and vestry of Christ Church, Ridgewood passed te following resolution, which I am sharing with their permission:

In response to the sentiments expressed at the recent Lambeth Conference and the final resolution issued concerning human sexuality, the wardens, vestry and clergy of Christ Church Ridgewood, meeting on October 13, 1998, passed the following resolution:

Christ Church welcomes all people to join us in our worship and to become a full participant in our community life. We extend this welcome to believer and doubter, Episcopalian and non-Episcopalian, male and female, gay and straight, married and single, regardless of ethnic, racial or cultural heritage. We believe that all gain strength and grow through the sharing of this diversity. Furthermore, this is consistent with our mission as a Christian Community to worship, grow, serve and give.

Furthermore, we believe that monogamous, committed, same-sex unions are legitimate, and we recognize the spiritual calling of both men and women, including those in such relationships, to serve in all orders of ministry, both lay and ordained, in the church and in the world.

This resolution will be added to our Web site and publicized elsewhere as well.
