What
is the LLC? LLC stands for Livingston Learning Center. The Center offers various services and programs to enrich the learning experience at Rutgers such as tutoring, academic coaching, course support, and course specific instruction groups. Its also provides a quiet and comfortable place to study. What types of Tutoring are available and is Tutoring free? Tutoring is available in scheduled small groups, individually by appointment, and on line. Prior to finals there may also be review sessions for certain subjects televised over RU-TV. Tutoring as well as all other LLC services are free. What if I can't make the scheduled Tutor time or the subject I'm looking for isn't offered? Simply check the other Learning Centers to see if they offer more convenient times. Also check the list of available subjects. If a subject isn't offered at one Learning Center, Check the other Centers' websites. What is Academic Coaching and how do I know if I should make an appointment? Academic coaching is a personalized program and is offered one-on-one by appointment. Your academic coach will assess the expectations of your professors, the demands of the course material, your learning strengths and the areas of improvement. Your coach will then try to adopt the strategies that best suites you and your course work. Also your academic coach can help you improve your note taking, writing structure, public speaking, self-management, time management, textbook reading, test preparation, and test taking strategies. If you feel you should be doing better than you are doing or feel you can improve upon a particular study strategy, you should make an appointment for academic coaching by calling the Livingston Learning Center in Tillett Hall at (732) 445-0986. What can I do if I think I have a Learning Disability? You can make an appointment with an Academic Coach or the Learning Specialist to see if you should be screened for a learning disability/attention deficit disorder. Can you help me write my paper? A Writing Coach is available to help students with the contents, organization, and basic research questions but is not available to provide editing or proof reading. The Writing Coach is not able to assist students with papers for Basic Composition, Expository Writing, or other Rutgers Writing program courses. Help for these courses are available through the Rutgers Writing Program. Where is the LLC? We are located in Room 111, Tillett Hall, which is the building behind Lucy Stone Hall. We are directly across the great Hall from the front doors of Tillett Hall and the Undergraduate Psychology Office.
