Major Research Equipment

in addition to other shared equipment in the Department

Major equipment available in the our laboratory includes:

  • two Beckman Gold HPLCs, two PerkinElmer Series 200 HPLCs, and two Shimadzu 10Avp HPLCs, each with full computer control, photodiode array detector and an autosampler
  • a Gilson analytical-to-preparative HPLC system with a Gilson Valvemate valve actuator as the two-column switch and a Gilson 215 Liquid Handler as the automatic sample injector and fraction collector
  • a Finnegan LCQ Deca XP+ Mass Spec System with a Perkin Elmer Series 200 HPLC system (2 micropumps, autosampler and dual wavelength UV/vis detector)
  • a Finnegan LTQ Mass Spec System with a Shimadzu 10Avp HPLC system (3 LC-10ADvp pumps, SIL-HTc autosampler and SPD-M10AV PDA detector)
  • one CEM Explorer Automated Microwave Synthesis Workstation with 24-position reaction deck, IntelliVent pressure system, and infrared temperature control system
  • four Teledyne ISCO CombiFlash Companion Automated Flash Chromatographic Systems
  • an Agilent Model 8453 diode array UV/vis spectrometer
  • a Hitachi F-4500 fluorescence spectrophotometer
  • a Perkin-Elmer Wallac Victor3V Multilabel Counter/Plate Reader capable of measuring fluorescence polarization (FP) and time-resolved fluorescence energy transfer (TR-FRET) in 1-1536 well formats,
  • a Packard Bioscience (now Perkin Elmer) MultiPROBE II HT EXpanded Liquid Handling Robot
  • a Savant ModulyoD 5-Liter Lyophilizer/freeze dryer,
  • a Savant SPD131DDA SpeedVac system with a RVT4104 refrigerated -104°C vapor trap and an OFP400 diaphram pump and
  • a Biacore 3000 (shared with Biotech Center, Cook College) - Website.

We also have our own cell culture laboratory with a class II Type A/B3 NuAire Laminar Flow Biological Safety Hood, two CO2 incubators, an Olympus CK2 Inverted Microscope, and a Dynatech MR5000 Microplate Reader for antiproliferative assays.
