Book Louse

Book Louse- (Liposcelis bostrychophilus) About 1-1.5 mm in length with a transparent body, dull brown to reddish brown head, chewing mouthparts and long antennae. In the younger stages, book lice appear transparent and become more opaque with age. They prefer areas that are humid, damp, dark and undisturbed.

They are often found in book bindings and alongside the edges of pages. Book lice feed on fungus and therein cause damage to the book. Discovering such insects in you collection is a direct sign of a pontential mold problem.
