    For a complete list of indexes and databases, click Indexes and Databases from the
    <Library Homepage>  under  <Find Articles>.  Be sure you log in with your NetID when accessing these databases from an off campus site. When using the databases listed below familiarize your self in using thesauri in each database

• Academic Search Premier  (Full Text from Selected Journals) also frequently referred to as  EbscoHost    Full text collection of multidisciplinary fields including library and information science fields.  If you are interested in obtaining only those items that are available online either Limit your search results to Full Text or click  to determine the availability of online full text and print journals via IRIS

• ACM Digital Library     (Full Text) Full text collection of journals and conference proceedings published by the Association of Computing Machinery (ACM).

• ASIST Digital Library    (Full Text)   Four major publications issued by the American Society of Information Science and Technology.

• ERIC – Education Resources Information Center (Full Text from Selected Journals) A national education database that includes many library and information science journals

•  Library Literature and Information Science  (Full Text from Selected Journals)  Full text available in about 100 journals   Either Limit your search to Full text or click  to determine availability of online full text and print journals via IRIS.

• Library and Information Science Abstracts (LISA)    This database provides abstracts and bibliographic citations only.  Click   to determine the availability of online full text and print journals via IRIS.

VII. Bibliographic Citation Manager

  RefWorks is a Web-based bibliographic citation manager, which works with most library databases. This tool allows you to build your personal research database and will format your citations in the style sheet (such APA, MLA, etc) that is required. RefWorks requires that you open your own account after you connect to the RefWorks site.
You can also click here to see a demo as shown in earlier section.

 Citation Builder is a tool developed by the North Carolina State University Libraries that will help you format your citations in the required style. You will have to manually input bibliographic elements.

IX. Search Exercise (11:30-12 Noon)

    Pick a research topic and search one or two of the databases listed above.  By doing this exercise I am hoping that you will familiarize yourself with the navigational paths of Rutgers electronic resources.

X. Searchpath –Online Tutorial

        Searchpath is a Rutgers modified online library tutorial that is largely targeted for undergraduate students. However, if you are not familiar with the Rutgers libraries system, you may find some modules worthwhile investing your time to do the exercise. One byproduct of such an exercise will help you devise your own tutorial for your students (and other library users) in your current and future workplace. This is an optional exercise.
