If you do not qualify for the NJ PLACE program, you may want to consider undergoing a prior learning assessment to determine whether your experience translates into college credit. Thomas Edison State College offers this service, along with degree completion assistance, as do several community and senior colleges, both public and private.
If you wish to pursue a degree program outside of the NJ PLACE model and completed your apprenticeship with one of the programs listed above, you may want to obtain a transcript of the courses recommended for credit. You will need to work directly with the recommendation service which evaluated your program: ACE CREDIT or National PONSI.
If you need to check on the your apprenticeship status or completion dates, contact your apprenticeship program or US Department of Labor’s NJ State Office of Apprenticeship. |
|
Step 2: Consider your options |
Do you want to pursue a general AAS in Technical Studies or concentrate in business management or construction management? Please note that choosing a concentration will limit your choice of colleges.

Step 3: Contact NJ PLACE |
Once you’ve considered which program of study you’d like to pursue, contact the NJ PLACE office at 732-932-7924 or njplace@rci.rutgers.edu to speak with our Program Assistant, Stephanie Atkins, who will help guide you in choosing the college that best meets your needs. |
