| September 96 | Official appointment of steering committee and chair. Coordinating committee appointed and begins exploration of self-study design alternatives. Coordinating committee also begins compiling inventory of resources (e.g., reports, data, policies, etc.) for potential use by the work groups. Coordinating committee makes recommendations to the steering committee concerning self-study approach. Steering committee selects self-study approach. Coordinating committee drafts self-study design; determines number of work groups needed; proposes composition of the work groups; and drafts charges for each work group. Steering committee approves self-study design and submits it to CHE. |
| October 96 | President and steering committee meet with MSA liaison. Work groups are appointed, given charges, and receive orientation. |
| February 97 - April 97 | Work groups submit first drafts of reports to steering committee for review in a staggered manner. MSA liaison meets with the steering committee. Steering committee reviews first drafts. |
| April 97 - June 97 | Work groups make revisions to reports. |
| July 97 - September 97 | Coordinating committee oversees drafting of the self-study. |
| September 97 - October 97 | Review of the self-study by the steering committee. Revisions to the self-study based on steering committee comments. |
| November 97 - January 98 | Team chair conducts preliminary visit. Review and approval of the self-study by university bodies (e.g., faculty senate, EP&P, BOG). |
| February 98 | Self-study mailed to CHE and MSA visiting team. |
| March 98 - April 98 | MSA team visit. |
