Accreditation

As an institution, Rutgers is fully accredited by the Commission on Higher Education of the Middle States Association of Colleges and Schools. That accreditation was renewed and endorsed in 1993 at the time of its last review. The university currently is engaged in self-study in preparation for the spring 1998 team visit and review. The accreditation process is one of peer review which requires an institution to define itself through an institutional mission statement, and then reviews the institution according to an array of criteria to determine if the institution is able to successfully fulfill its mission. Apart from institutional accreditation, certain schools and programs also undergo specialized accreditation reviews, for example the Newark and Camden Law Schools, and the New Brunswick and Camden Schools of Business.
