Major Factors Most Deeply Affecting Student Retention and Persistence
    

 

   A number of factors influence a student's ability to achieve academic success. Among these are: preparation and achievement at the K-12 level, the rigor of the curriculum the student is pursuing, the availability of academic and other support services, financial need, the attendant number of hours a student has to work in support of his/her education, and a student's personal circumstances.
