Hyung-il Lee received a Ph.D. in Genetics from Michigan State University in 1992. He participates in the salicylic acid research program and is studying the molecular genetic mechansim of Salicylic Acid Glucosyltransferase (SA Gtase), an enzyme involved in salicylic acid metabolism in plants. The thrust of his research includes isolating a cDNA clone for SA Gtase, identifying and characterizing the SA Gtase cDNA clone and analyzing transgenic plants altered in the expression of SA Gtase.
